At Therapy Hive, our Therapy Assistants and Mentors work in partnership with families to support children to thrive.

What Is a Therapy Assistant?

Therapy Hive Assistants attend face-to-face sessions with a child to help the child learn new skills to support their development, well-being and participation in the community.

It is a fun and rewarding profession, supporting children to grow and flourish.

Therapy Assistants work in conjunction with Allied Health professionals who provide guidance to our staff through assessments, diagnoses, or treatment plans for a child.

What is a Mentor?

Mentors attend face-to-face sessions with a child to help them learn new skills to support their development, building confidence and participation in the community. This profession is also known as support work.

Mentors and Support Workers are different to Therapy Assistants because they do not need to work under the guidance of an Allied Therapist.

Qualifications Required

Our Therapy Assistants need to be passionate about supporting children to reach their goals. You must be experienced or studying in the following areas:

  • Allied Health or Education students studying at university
  • Hold a Certificate or Diploma in Allied Health Assistance or Children’s service
  • Hold a Degree or higher certification as an Allied Health or Education trained professional
  • Hold the required police checks and certificates

All our staff are insured by us. We encourage and support further professional development for all our staff.

How It Works

At Therapy Hive, we connect our team members with families and key professionals to ensure everyone understands the child’s unique needs and how best to support their growth, confidence, and skill development.

We begin by consulting with families to gather insights and arrange a meet and greet, helping you get to know the child and build rapport. Once a match is made, we coordinate the necessary paperwork and create a schedule that works for everyone.

Throughout your time with us, we assist with sharing relevant session updates and support you by providing helpful resources and materials tailored to each child’s goals.

If you're unsure whether you'd be better suited to the Therapy Assistant or Mentor role, we’re here to help. Many of our team members take on both roles depending on the child and their individual needs.

How We Support You

  • Matching you with families and children who are the right fit for your strengths and availability

  • Providing you with the guidance to support children

  • Helping you track & share progress

  • Supporting you to build a ‘toolkit’ of play-based strategies, games, and activities that align with the child’s interests and developmental goals

  • Staying connected with you through regular team catch-ups, mentoring, and group training throughout the year

Whether you're stepping into a new role or expanding your experience, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
